Busi Skenjana has extensive experience in marketing, particularly within the vibrant kasi stokvel markets. With over 50 years of expertise in the stokvel industry, she brings deep knowledge and insight. As both a stokvel member and a marketer working closely with stokvel groups, Busi leverages her experience to drive change and innovation in this ever-evolving sector.
In 1996, Busi started the Ixhesha Marketing Agency in Soweto – the first marketing company to focus exclusively on stokvels. In 2003, she rebranded the agency as Brand Support Keys, solidifying her commitment to driving financial empowerment within stokvel communities.
By 2017, Busi was even more dedicated to developing stokvels. She set up a non-profit organisation called Stokvel Academy PBO. This organisation helps stokvels grow and thrive.
Known affectionately as “The Stokvel Guru”, Busi has become a trusted voice and influential figure in the stokvel community. . She frequently shares her insights on prominent media platforms such as SABC, CNBC Africa, Power 987 FM, and Kaya FM, cementing her reputation as a thought leader.
As well as traditional media, Busi also uses digital and social platforms to engage with the stokvel community. She connects with her followers all over the world through the Stokvel Academy YouTube channel and TikTok. On these platforms, she continues to educate, inspire, and advocate for the stokvel movement.
